Watchdog Wrap-up: September 29 – October 2
Digiwatchdog kicked off its first week with coverage of the Chicago Independent Ad Network‘s launch, Mike Fourcher’s attempt to make advertising cheap and effective for small local publications that don’t already have a successful revenue-earning system in place.
We live-tweeted the Block by Block Community News Summit, where Fourcher announced the formation of an independent online news publisher association. It was heartening, with nary a complaint about the industry’s woes, to see so many optimistic journalists in one place.
Block by Block also taught us how best to engage audiences on Facebook and Twitter, as well as the most effective ways of analyzing web metrics.
Finally, Patty Hastings took a deeper look at the findings of a recent Pew study that showed Americans are reading news on increasingly diverse media platforms.
More to come tomorrow. In the meantime, why don’t you follow us on Twitter?
